Q: As you have described the "Inner
Revolution" earlier, it seems to be very
natural. Why then these enlightened people
are so rare?
A: It is the mind that takes
you for the ride and does not allow that natural
process to happen! It is we who go on putting
energy, the fire into the thought activity
so it happily continues. Simply knowing about
it is not going to help much. It's the implementation
that matters!
People talk so much about so many things!
There is an explosion of information in every
field. This added information could become
the burden on your head if not assimilated
properly. So, instead of getting more and
more informative knowledge, what we need to
do is experiment like a scientist. If you
have some basic information, it's O.K. Take
it as 'pointers' and go ahead with it.
You need to put intense efforts to begin with,
until you settle in multi-dimensional awareness.
Further on it's just happening! It happens
when it happens! You can do nothing about
it. Neither you can make it happen, nor you
can prevent it from happening when it happens.
So why bother? Enjoy your life and continue
Sadhana.
You have asked, why these enlightened people
are so rare? Yes, if you talk in terms of
percentage of population, they are rare. It
is so because this kind of happening is so
rare. But not as rare as you think! There
are many, but how will you recognize them?
They don't make announcements of this kind
on loud speakers!
Q: I have tried this process of observing
breath and thoughts for many days. I do feel
relaxed and at times get glimpses of thoughtless
state. But, suddenly the thoughts grip again
and that state is lost completely. Can you
help me?
A: Nobody can help you from
outside! You have to work it out for your
self.
Let us understand, before the thoughts grip,
where were they? Have you observed how a thought
arises in that what you call as thoughtless
state? If the thought arises in it, is that
really a thoughtless state?
If you go deeper, you will see that thoughts
come and thoughts go! You are not the thoughts.
Why to get associated with clouds when you
are an open sky? Clouds come, clouds go. How
do they affect the sky? Are there any traces
left in the sky? If this understanding deepens
in experiential manner then thought clouds
wouldn't bother you.
The gap between the two thoughts is the silent
space you call it as thoughtless state. This
is not really the silent state! It is just
the gap between the two thoughts and nothing
more than that. The real silence is very dynamic,
effervescent and volatile state. The thought
has got no capacity to linger on in that high-energy
state. This is the state, which is beyond
the thought mind.
So, go deeper. Let it be a high intensity
affair! Let that spark become the wild fire.
Continue the Sadhana and one day that fire
will become enormous enough to engulf the
entire mind.
Q: At times, I fall into sleep while
meditating…
A: That is the simplest thing
to do for this docile mind! To remain vigilant
abhors! When we start working on mind, it
plays various tricks! If you succeed, it's
the death of the mind. And mind doesn't want
to die that easily so the game continues.
You said, at times, you fall a sleep while
meditating. That's nothing. I have seen people
snoring! That too so loudly that they disturb
other people sleeping near by!
So, it's O.K.! When you getup, freshen up,
have a cup of tea to increase your awareness
if you like and just pickup the thread from
where you lost, to continue the Sadhana.
Q: I have tried that, but the fear
grips…
A: Yes! Now that is the trick
of the mind! It doesn't want to die! To protect
itself, the fear arises so that you don't
move further on the path of Sadhana.
When fear arises, face it squarely. Look into
it straight with all the intensity. With this
you can protect yourself from falling prey
to this tricky mind! Enlightenment is all
about going beyond this tricky mind!
Q: How do I know, if someone is enlightened
or not?
A: Why do you bother about
others?
Q: How do I know, whether I am enlightened
or not?
A: Well, in that case you
will have enough awareness that is aware of
itself. Then you will not have to ask it to
anybody. That's for sure!
Q: Are you enlightened?
A: There is no one here,
to claim anything of that sort.
Q: What are the qualities of the
spiritually evolved person?
A: Well, there are many qualities.
We need to look into it slowly and sincerely.
We need to study and understand those qualities
for our own evolution and that is the only
purpose why we are here on this planet earth,
sitting together on this rainy Sunday evening.
